Mr. Ja’Nel Jamerson is the Director of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network. Through collective impact and community engagement, it is his belief that Flint and Genesee County will become a leader in the collaborative development of residents across the lifespan. Prior to joining the Network, Mr. Jamerson served as the Assistant Program Manager for the CEO Pre-College Program Unit at the University of Michigan-Flint.
Mr. Jamerson is a lifelong resident of Flint, MI and is a proud graduate of the Flint Community School District. He was awarded the Wade H. McCree Jr. Incentive Scholarship and attended the University of Michigan-Flint, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Urban Education, and completed teaching assignments at Detroit Loyola Jesuit High School and Henry Ford Academy-School for Creative Studies. He was trained in community organizing through the PICO National Network in Los Altos, CA.
Mr. Jamerson is a member of the Flint Alumni Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, where he serves in various capacities. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint and the Urban League of Flint, where he has joined in furthering the organizations’ missions of improving the quality of life for residents in our communities. He is also a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association.
